One of the unsung stars of the festival is the Swallow Theatre near Whithorn, Scotland’s smallest permanent theatre. A labour of love, built in a restored and converted byre, it’s named for the swallows who would interrupt early performances. Now banished from the stage, the birds still nest by the path leading to the 48-seat auditorium. The Swallow will be hosting several productions during the 2016 Festival. See programme for details.
