Wigtown Festival Company is offering two internships, each lasting for one month, to individuals with a keen interest in event management and the arts. The successful interns will gain experience in the logistical management and day-to-day preparation and presentation of the event, which takes place from Friday 22 September - Sunday 1 October inclusive. They will develop skills in: events management, office administration and marketing.  The roles will also require the successful individuals to communicate at all levels with festival staff, the board of trustees, volunteers, authors and members of the public.

Full-time from Monday 4 September to Wednesday 4 October (including festival weekends).  These are paid roles offering a stipend of £1,000 each plus travel to and from Wigtown (within UK), accommodation for one month and agreed expenses.  The roles offer experience at a high level that will suit individuals interested in a career in events or arts administration.

"Working as the event assistant was a delight. The staff and volunteers are all lovely and helpful, and the work was varied and challenging. No two days were the same, often no two hours, and my tasks varied from emailing authors, setting up events, organising school transport and even serving curry one day. Wigtown itself is nestled in a beautiful area of Scotland that you have time to explore, and the whole month was all a brilliant experience. The festival was fun and busy and I can’t recommend the internship enough!"  Rebecca, Intern 2016
