The Wigtown Festival Company (WFC) is seeking to recruit a Cultural Tourism Development Officer (CTDO) to focus on the 50 weeks of the year outside the annual Wigtown Book Festival.  A creative resource to design and drive forward pilot programmes and a year round cultural tourism agenda and offering.

Cultural and “experiential” tourism of this type is a growing area - as evidenced by the number of literary festivals and courses throughout the UK.  WFC believes that Wigtown has potential in this field that are not currently exploited.

By creating new reasons for lovers of literature, culture and learning to visit Wigtown all year round, we aim to create trade for local businesses, especially outside peak season. We also aim to consolidate Wigtown’s identity as Scotland’s National Book Town and to deliver a book town that is fit for the 21st-century and resistant to the pressures of the digital economy.

Applications: Deadline 5pm, Friday 12 August 2016. Cover letter, CV and two references to Anne Barclay, Operational Director, Wigtown Festival Company, County Buildings, Wigtown, DG8 9JH or by email to anne@wigtownbookfestival.com.

Interviews will take place on Wednesday 17 August 2016.
