In Deep: Mindful Writing with John Burns
A creative writing workshop exploring ways of using memory to open up our awarenes and to generate stories that resonate with the deeper aspects of our lives. John Burns is a poet and short story writer. He is the author of books on Neil Gunn and on Bob Dylan and the poetry collection Open Sky. He has owerset A Midsummer Night's Dream in Scots. He is currently an editor on Southlight magazine.
What is a bridge? with Pippa Little
'A place between places' or a world in its own right? We'll consider this powerful symbol in others' poetry and explore our own responses, using real or imaginary prompts - anything from a spider thread to the Golden Gate - stories that resonate with the deeper aspects of our lives. Pippa Little is Scots but lives in Northumberland. Her first full collection Overwintering was shortlisted for the Seamus Heaney Centre Prize. She is a Royal Literary Fund Fellow at Newcastle University and has just been announced as runner up in The Wigtown Poetry Competition.
It blew up in her face! with Vivien Jones
Grabbing the editor's eye. A workshop on writing gripping flash fiction from the very first sentence. Vivien Jones has four collections in print, tow of poetry and two of short stories, as well as numerous other credits in anthologies and broadcasts on BBC Radio Scotland and BBC Radio 4. She is one of the editors of Southlight magazine, a literary journal in SW Scotland and one of three Literature Animateurs in Dumfries & Galloway, happening to make things happen on the literary scene in the area.
