On a beach on the Solway Firth, the badly burned body of a man and an injured boy have been washed ashore. They are surrounded by second world war incendiary bombs. Lifeboat volunteer and policewoman Shona Oliver receives the Mayday call, a call that will plunge her into a murder mystery that threatens to blow apart the tight-knit local fishing community. Lynne McEwan returns with the second in her new Dumfries-based series featuring the former London Detective Inspector. She talks about how she is putting the south-west on the crime-fiction map.
