The Big DoG Lecture
Mairi Hedderwick: A Highland Journey
Theatre Royal
Friday 7th April 2017

Aimed at an adult audience, the Big Dog Lecture is a chance for children's authors to talk about grown-up interests. Mairi Hedderwick is famed for her much loved Katie Morag books. But she is also an acclaimed travel writer. In this illustrated talk, based on Mairi's book Highland Journey, she follows in the footsteps of Victorian artist John T Reid through Scotland's wilderness. Comparing her own pictures to his, she asks what has been lost and gained in the century between them.
