Two of the UK’s most inspiring science communicators present a fascinating journey through the history of astronomy.

Based on Heather Couper's 30-part series for BBC Radio 4, Cosmic Quest is an awe-inspiring journey through 40,000 years of our fascination with the heavens - in just an hour. Couper and fellow astronomer Nigel Henbest celebrate the mavericks who have driven our knowledge in this field, from Omar Khayyam to Fred Hoyle. Starting with the Australian Aboriginals in their dark deserts, the talk brings listeners right up-to-date with the recent discoveries of thousands of planets, and the search for extraterrestrial life.

Dr Heather Couper, CBE, is an international broadcaster and writer on astronomy, space and science. She has hosted two Channel 4 series, several TV programmes, and many radio shows – including the long-running ‘Seeing Stars’ on BBC World Service.

Nigel Henbest is an internationally acclaimed science populariser, specialising in astronomy and space. His books and articles have been published around the world, and his TV productions have won awards in Britain and in the US.
