Reclaiming The Lost Words

3 October 2019

Bramble, kingfisher, acorn. How can anyone talk about our natural world if they have no words to describe the birds and plants that live there?
Jackie Morris was taken aback when she discovered that terms like these were being omitted from a junior dictionary, so she created her book The Lost Words to highlight the loss.
You can hear her speak about this wonderful collaboration with Robert Macfarlane at the festival on Saturday.
She will also discuss the ways in which our relationship to the natural world is under threat.
The event will be given an extra magic thanks to musical support from Beth Porter of The Lost Words: Spell Songs project and The Bookshop Band.
