Dan Richards, Joyce, Ian and Helena Cochrane

10 July 2020

In this episode, host Peggy Hughes talks to author Dan Richards about his book Outpost.

He tells us about his adventures in far-flung areas of the world, including spending time in Iceland's haunted sæluhús (houses of joy), attempting to get to a Mars camp in Utah and retracing Jack Kerouac’s 1956 journey to Desolation Peak.

In the second segment, we catch up with Joyce and Ian Cochrane of the wonderful Old Bank Bookshop in Wigtown. They chat about how they came to run the shop and what plans they have coming out of lockdown. Plus we catch up with their daughter, Helena, about her passion for astrophotography, which has given rise to her YouTube channel, Helena's Astrophotography.
