Why Are There So Many Books About Bears?

Wigtown Primary School 2019
Sat 5 Oct

Have you ever wondered why there are so many books about bears?  This is the impossible question that the greatest minds in the animal kingdom have come together to discuss and debate in the great, hallowed hall of Mollusc College, Oxford.

In this hugely interactive event bestselling author, Kristina Stephenson (Sir Charlie Stinky Socks) will introduce a host of hysterical new characters, each one based on a well-known great mind from history - William SNAKEspeare, NEWTon, Albert SWINEstein, Mary SHELLey (the literary snail) and others.

By comparing some famous literary bears, from Winnie the Pooh and Paddington to the bear in ‘We’re going on a Bear Hunt’, Hugless Douglas and Mr Panda, and with the help of children from the audience who will be invited onto the stage to dress up and take on the animal roles, this fun-filled event will become a lively debate as well as a musical storytelling session.  There will be plenty of audience participation, live drawing, music, songs and puppets as Kristina and the children bring this entertaining new picture book to life.

The answer to the impossible question will, of course, be revealed at the end of the show with the cutest of surprises.

Children may bring their own teddies and favourite soft toys to the event and every child will receive a certificate of brilliance from Mollusc College.  [C39]
