As Scotland’s National Chef and winner of MasterChef: The Professionals, Gary Maclean earned a reputation for innovative flavours and impeccable technique. He joins us to share his passion for Scottish food so evident in his work, taking us on a journey through our traditional dishes, adapted for modern lifestyles. About the Author

Born in Glasgow, Gary Maclean is the first national chef of Scotland, a role which promotes food health, education and Scotland’s amazing produce. Gary was crowned champion of BBC series MasterChef: The Professionals in 2016, and announced as Scotland’s National Chef for 2018. He is executive chef at City of Glasgow College and a fellow of the Master Chefs of Great Britain. Following on the success of Kitchen Essentials, Scottish Kitchen is his second book. Gary has also held executive chef positions at two of Scotland’s biggest independent operators and his current role as Senior Lecturer at City of Glasgow College is what really drives his passion for mentoring other young chefs and creative cooking.
