Scottish Fiddle Orchestra

A Concert for Scotland’s Year of Stories

Festival Marquee
Sat 24 Sep
20:00 UK

The Scottish Fiddle Orchestra have been at the forefront of performing and promoting traditional Scottish music for over 40 years. Through music and song they celebrate the people, places, nature, tales and legends of Scotland. It’s a particular pleasure to welcome them back almost exactly a decade after their last performance in the Book Town. The orchestra’s founder John M Mason MBE spent his early years locally and composed many tunes set in Wigtown. Those origins will be reflected in the programme, which offer a glimpse into the future of fiddle music as well as drawing on its rich heritage.

About the Scottish Fiddle Orchestra

The Scottish Fiddle Orchestra was formed in 1980, inspired by traditional Fiddlers’ Rallies. The orchestra usually plays six major concerts a year in cities across Scotland, plus special concerts such as this event in Wigtown.
