Sarah Churchwell is one of the most incisive commentators on Trump’s America, a fascinating explorer of the myths that the US tells of itself, and a compelling speaker, as anyone who saw her 2018 festival event on the American Dream knows.

In her latest book, The Wrath To Come, she turns her attention to Margaret Mitchell’s controversial bestseller Gone With the Wind. It’s a story that takes in, among much else,  Hollywood, Sir Walter Scott, lynchings, Black Lives Matter and last year’s Capitol insurrection. An essential event if you want to understand America now and then.
