The Bookshop Untold

The Old Bank Bookshop
Fri 30 Sep
19:30 UK

Welcome. Please come in. Make yourself at home.

The bookshop might be closed but the adventure has just begun.

Grab a seat among the books. Right there, between the shelves. Robert Burns, Jackie Kay, Walter Scott, Louise Welsh, Arthur Conan Doyle, and Muriel Spark line the walls but whose untold story will be heard tonight?

In this strange bookshop where, once the closed sign has been turned and the customers have departed, wonderful things take place. Amid all these well-known stories is another. Hidden. Forgotten. Lost. Fictional, factual; vanished into history. But tonight, the storytelling double act of this enchanted bookshop, and its owner, would very much like to share it with you.

Commissioned by Wigtown Book Festival for Scotland’s Year of Stories, The Bookshop Untold is a storytelling performance for everyone aged 12+, that will take you on a journey through history, through Scottish literature, through art, love, and loss.

Join us for an evening of mystery and delight as this enchanted bookshop and its owner take you on a whimsical journey into the untold.
