Walk: Into the Nicht

Since the dawn of civilisation, humans have found stories in the stars. Join us on a unique night-time walk with writer and adventurer Dan Richards and Dark Sky Ranger Elizabeth Tindal, as they draw inspiration from Galloway’s pristine dark skies. Mixing acoustic art, music and literature, and taking a distinctively Scottish bent, they invite you to look anew at the world when the sun goes down. This commission is funded by EventScotland for Scotland’s Year of Stories 2022.

About Dan Richards and Elizabeth Tindal

Dan Richards is a writer and journalist. His first book, Holloway, co-authored with Robert Macfarlane and illustrated by Stanley Donwood, was a Sunday Times bestseller. Dan’s fourth book, Outpost: A Journey to the Wild Ends of the Earth, explores the appeal of shelters in mountains, tundra, forest, oceans and deserts.

Elizabeth Tindal is a biosphere and dark skies ranger who lives and works in Galloway. In 2020, she collaborated with Stephen Rutt on The Saltmarsh Library project, another Wigtown Book Festival commission.
