Lisa Jewell started writing her first novel, Ralph’s Party, as a bet and is now a best-selling author on both sides of the Atlantic. She has moved from writing romcoms to nail-biting domestic noir, but what has remained consistent is her ability to write smart, funny page-turners that are the very best examples of popular fiction. Her latest book The Family Remains is a sequel to The Family Upstairs and is a reminder of Jewell’s ability to simultaneously thrill and chill her readers. But how does she do it? Will Brooker, author of The Truth About Lisa Jewell, might have a few ideas. The two writers come together to talk about the secrets that lie behind the art of popular fiction.
